In this episode, I explore the fascinating world of hot rods and celebrate the “Big Three” who shaped the hot rod car culture. They are George Barris, the “King of the Kustomizers,”. Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, the audacious artist and creator of Rat Fink, and Von Dutch.
The “Big Three” – George Barris, Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, and Von Dutch – have forever shaped the hot rod culture. Their artistic vision, innovative designs, and rebellious spirit turned hot rods into rolling works of art, inspiring generations of car enthusiasts. Their legacies live on, reminding us that hot rods are not just vehicles, but expressions of individuality and the essence of the hot rod car culture.
I hope you enjoyed learning about these three hot rod visionaries as much as I enjoyed sharing the information with you. It brought back lots of memories when doing my research on each one. If you grew up in the 50’s and 60’s hopefully I’ve caused some great memories to resurface. If you didn’t grow up during that time, it’s good to know some background of where the hot rod culture started.
I’m looking for people that would enjoy telling the stories of their first rides and how their lives were influenced by them. And I bet you probably know someone that would be a great guest for My First Ride Podcast, right? Let me know a little about them and their story.
